- LeRoy E. Ehredt, age 92, passed peacefully from this life into eternal life with his Lord Jesus Christ surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, November 5th at FHN Memorial Hospital in Freeport. He will be lovingly missed by his family and those who knew him.
Leroy was born at home on Snake Hollow Road near Elizabeth on April 25, 1925. He was the son of Elmer William and Mabel Virgina (Beetly) Ehredt. He grew up on the farm and attended Long Hollow School through the eighth grade. He attended the Rural Youth Meetings in Elizabeth where he met and fell in love with Lois Joy Kehl. They were married on March 31, 1951 at Wartburg Seminary in Dubuque IA. They first lived in Massbach, IL and later moved to the Pearl City area making their final home on Raders Road. Leroy was a dairy farmer and later started Ehredt Feed Service in 1973.
There were three children added to this loving relationship: Dale was born in Savanna in 1952, Lynnette was born in 1956 also in Savanna and Daryl was born in 1958 in Freeport.
He is survived by his wife Lois Joy Ehredt of Pearl City. Two siblings Monica Schumacher of Elizabeth and Charlotte Dittmar of Galena. He is also survived by his children Dale (Shireen) Ehredt of Durand IL, Lynnette (Donald) Blasing of Brimfield IL, Daryl (Linda) Ehredt of Juda WI. He also had eight grandchildren: Jenniffer and Peter Michaelides of Mundelein IL, Jason and Ellen Blasing of Ashland City TN, Joyelle Blasing, Jennine Blasing of Peoria IL, Joylynn Blasing and Jamison Blasing of Brimfield IL. There were three step-grandchildren: Richard (Shari) Curran of Monroe WI, Eric (Candy) Curran of Shannon IL, Jason (Jessie) Curran of Juda WI. He also had one great-grandchild and seven step-greatgrandchildren.
He is preceded in death by: his parents Elmer and Mabel Ehredt, his sister Myrtle Palmer of Comanche IA and his brother Ward Ehredt formerly of Pittsfield IL.
LeRoy was a man who had a deep personal faith in Jesus Christ. He sought to live out that faith in his life, church and business practice. He regularly attended the Evangelical Congregational Church in Cedarville IL as long as his health allowed.
The funeral service will be held Thursday, November 9th at Emmanuel Evangelical Congregational Church in Cedarville at 11:00 am with a visitation beginning at 10:00 am. There will also be a visitation on Wednesday, November 8th at the Hermann Funeral Home in Pearl City from 4:00 to 7:00 pm. Interment will take place at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Freeport. A memorial fund has been established.
