- Sylvia DeEtta Patton, 77, Topeka, died Sunday, April 27, 2003, at a Topeka hospice house. She was born March 19, 1926, in Brewster, to Jacob Chancey and Eva Andrews Beckner. She lived west of Brewster and attended a one-room school until high school. She was a switchboard operator at Stormont-Vail Hospital for several years. She lived in Topeka since 1970.
She was a member of Lakeview Church of the Nazarene.
She married Willis L. Patton on April 5, 1947, in Goodland. He survives.
Other survivors include two daughters, Sherlyn Bender, Danbury, Conn., and Lynda Jamrozek, Topeka; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Lakeview Church of the Nazarene. Burial will be at West Lawn Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Patton will lie in state after 3 p.m. Tuesday at Parker-Price Mortuary, where relatives and friends will meet from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday.
